File Uploader and Custom Forms are Embeddable into your Website
A long awaited feature, “Embedding workspace pages into other website” is now available. You can embed a file uploader, file download links, custom forms, or any combination of page items into your company web site. With forms, once a visitor uploads files and submits the form, the files and user-entered data are transferred securely to your predefined project workspace in TeamPlatform.
- Creating and updating embed code is easy and quick
- Enjoy TeamPlatform’s fast and robust file upload feature
- All files and form data are seamlessly delivered in project workspaces in TeamPlatform.
Instant Momentum to New Projects
When forms are submitted they initiate a new workspace and send an automatic email notification to the workspace owner. When the form is based on a workspace template, the initiated workspace can be pre-populated with project milestones, web-documents, required-files, and pre-assigned tasks, which also generate automatic email notifications to stakeholders. The pre-populated template effectively provides a standard operating procedure for managing project steps, and the pre-populated workspace already has files, data, links, tasks, and other forms that are valuable in bringing momentum to the project.
Since project managers are closely monitoring their latest capability and the accuracy of the custom fields within the forms, the new embeddable widget means project and sales teams can make changes within TeamPlatform rather than monitoring the company’s website relaying changes to a web-designer. If a form needs to be modified or created, project managers can do this instantly and without the help of a web-master.
Upload Limits are have been demolished
If someplace in your current website reads, ”Max file upload size 10MB”, or perhaps more troubling, “Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your attached files”, then you’ve probably experienced many of the pains involved in receiving files from new clients. With quick, easy embedding, you can instantly add an uploader to your site that will demolish upload limits and make it extremely easy for visitors to your site.
Concurrent with the release of the embed feature, TeamPlatform’s released an enhancement to the new file uploader. File upload is faster, more robust and there is no limit on the size of files that can be uploaded. 10kB or 10GB, one file or one-thousand, embedding the web-uploader provides high speed upload to visitors from around the world.
Showcase your Capabilities … with Large Files, in 3D
Make your webpage more dynamic by providing true examples of your company’s capabilities, instantly. When you embed 3D files into your site visitors can open them in the same way you can open them in a workspace or a page. If you are trying to share the dynamic capability of 3D files there is no better way than with TeamPlatform’s high performance viewer.
Inserting a large file download is extremely simple with the Embed feature. You can instantly embed Files, CAD Files, and Huge Engineering Files, for your clients to download right in your site. This might be a large zip file, dozens of smaller CAD files, a large software installer or any other large file or set of files you would like to provide. TeamPlatform’s global network of servers is high speed, so no matter if the visitor is from across the city or across the country, his experience is going to fast and convenient when downloading big files from your site.
How to Embed, the Basics
In TeamPlatform, create a form or a page then copy the html embed code, similar to the sample below into the website. This capability is supported by nearly all websites and web hosting services and should be familiar to anyone managing a website regardless of scale.
The embedded code can include so called “file widgets”, “custom fields”, “uploaders”, “notes” and “dividers”. One, or multiple forms can be embedded into a company’s website.
The sample below shows a simple collection of items embedded into this webpage. For a more complete round-up of Pages, visit this post on Powerful Pages in TeamPlatform.
Already, a number of applications for embedding items from TeamPlatform into external web pages have already been explored by TeamPlatform users and these include embedding product files into webpages, adding models for showcase, creating custom RFQ forms for services, enhancing 3D parts catalogue sites, and even developing e-commerce sites with the aid of TeamPlatform embedded files.
Advanced Embed Options: Passing Variables into the web-form
Embedded web forms can also accommodate custom variables, meaning a single entity in TeamPlatform can be used in multiple places within a company website with the custom fields populated based on custom variables. The syntax required to pass variables is simple. Simply append the embed code with syntax specifying the field name and field value. Using this advanced option in conjunction with tools like mail merge can be helpful when sending standardized forms to a large number of contacts. Simple append the Field Name (case sensitive) and the Field Value as shown below, separating fields entry with “&”. The added syntax for two custom fields being populated is shown below:
Just append the “?”, “Field Names” & “Field Values” separated by a “&” to the iframe code, similar to what is shown below. Make sure that all strings have proper URL encoding*. You may have noticed already, but “embed” with a value of “true” is a variable which is already included, so make sure to add your variables and values after this last variable.
In fact, this post has pre-populated the Name and Company in the form above using the code above.
*Note on URL Encoding: You must use encoded URLs whenever you are passing strings in the URL (or iframe). Therefore, “Street Address” when encoded becomes “Street%20Address” when encoded as a URL, and “100 Johnson Ave.” becomes “100%20Johnson%20Ave.” when encoded as a URL. This allows the web browser to properly parse the variables and values you are using.
