Powerful pages easily aggregate files, online viewing, and custom fields, with a variety of ways to share and interact
TeamPlatform provides unified and versatile pages for files, notes and sharing. Inside a page you can create and write together. You can add file download/upload links and then share pages (just like you would share any other web-page), and the files you embed can point to any file or folder location across the entire platform. For example, if you share the same NDA or TOC form on a regular basis, you won’t need to create a new instance of the file for every new company you are working with. Instead, pages can link to files across workspaces, which helps remove duplicates, and makes sure the latest version of file is on hand and available to share with people you are working with.
There many powerful capabilities within Pages, we’re going to cover a few of the capabilities of shared pages in this post.
Basic Page Layout
A page can have a collection of files, notes, comments, upload and download links, dividers, and even embedded HTML. The sky’s the limit, but creating pages is simple. It might seem like a page would take a couple of hours to build, but in reality about 5-minutes is all that you need.

Interacting with Pages
Online File Previews
Online previews are a nice part of using TeamPlatform. You, your colleagues, your clients, partners, suppliers … everyone can preview files online without downloading. Within pages, clicking on a file pops-up a live window. You can instantly stream video, zoom-pan-rotate 3D CAD models, or Deep-Zoom into DWG Drawing files.
After a page is populated, the purpose can be unique, and powerful.
3D Models can be viewed online. DWG are vector drawn. Videos stream in HD.
All within the native browser, with no-plugins.
It’s like having 5 different pieces of viewing software on your computer, at all times. Collaborators don’t need to have special software to view the files you are sharing with them which helps speeds decisions and increase project awareness. No plug-ins are required, because WebGL comes standard with nearly all browsers these days; everything happens within the native browser.
Interacting with Pages
Interacting with pages extends beyond online previews, live-downloads, and special tools for 3D CAD and Assemblies. Pages are far from static web-pages, and are very much live, interactive tools to help projects move forward. Two examples of this are page comments and upload links, which allows visitors to upload files and add comments.
- Upload Links
- Custom Forms
Visitors can interact within the page, including uploading data, or adding comments.
Far from static, these tools available in every page show that pages alone can act as a powerful collaborative tool for your projects. TeamPlatform will automatically notify users of any newly uploaded files or new comments or replies (automatic notifications), plus there are some pretty powerful tools for tracking page access and activity built into your TeamPlatform account.
Special tools for 3D, CAD and Assemblies
TeamPlatform is made for engineering and design companies who are regularly working with big piles of complex data. For example, the process of 3D Scanning a boat may take over 100 scan shots depending on the scanner that is being used. Not only is this a lot of data, there are a lot of individual files to share. Pages provide robust downloads and automatically ZIP collections of data together, which make sharing big files easy.
You can jump to 3D views and assembly tree views within TeamPlatform.
Larger assemblies can be downloaded in a single click.
The button is named “Download All References”
TeamPlatform will Automatically Zip
- Collections of Files within a Folder or Widget
- CAD Assemblies (all references)
One-click download of full assembly.
Instead of 12 or 50 separate downloads, zip these assemblies.
With one click, the people who need to big collections of files are one their way, and they can preview any of the files while their collection is being downloaded.
Creating and Managing Pages
TeamPlatform comes pre-loaded with a few different page layouts, and every page item can be copied and pasted to another page. This makes building up pages fast and easy.
The basic tools for page creation are simple. If you are starting from scratch, you simply add a widget or two and your up and running.
- Download Widget (for embedding files)
- Upload Widget (to embed upload links)
- Workspace Creator (makes web-forms like an RFQ)
- Note Widget (for rich-text, graphics, HTML, iFrame)
This shows populating a file widget.
Select files, then press Done.
You can link to files and folders across the entire platform into pages, meaning you can link data and upload destinations across workspaces and your platform.
Internal vs. External Page, What’s the difference?
It should be clear by now that you can pack a lot of different content into pages. Really, the possibilities are endless. But what may not be clear just yet is how to share pages, and what flavors are available for sharing.
Pages can be shared externally (outside of TeamPlatform) by essentially publishing the page (we call this sharing the specific page). While sharing a workspace requires that the user be logged into TeamPlatform after receiving an invite, an externally shared page can be accessed by anyone with the link – no login or account required.
Sharing options include setting the password and setting expiration.
When data needs to be shared outside of the platform, this menus is available.
Web-accessible pages are provided, no account needed to access.
Typically, externally shared pages are useful when sharing a single set of files, delivering results or requesting quotes. They can also be useful for exchanging files (much like a private-branded FTP) or as a resource for common files, notes and information. Yet another use is document design processes, sharing design reviews, sharing parts for manufacturing, or developing a web form. Actually, the list of usage scenarios is really quite long. Pages in TeamPlatform are unique and versatile.
Tracking Page Access and Heads-Up-Display on Page Updates
An organization’s growing workforce has commensurately growing collaboration interactions. Using options to make externally shared page secure include password protection within the sharing options, to ensure that sharing is controlled and secure. In addition, the built-in dashboard makes it easy to narrow in on shared pages including ones that are shared externally, with or without passwords, and that passwords that might be expiring soon. In conjunction with the dashboard, visit analytics such as geographic location and download count are very helpful in understanding how the page is being used.
The dashboard really helps tie project and data together.
Dashboards provide a central place to get a HUD of collaboration activity.
In addition to the analytics, heads-up-dashboard, and tracking tools built-into pages, TeamPlatform will notify users of newly uploaded files and comments (TeamPlatform notifications) automatically.
Usage Scenarios and Samples
Parting Note 1: Web-Forms like an RFQ
In addition to embedding content for sharing, pages can be used to embed web-forms entirely within TeamPlatform using required custom-fields. Generating web-forms using TeamPlatform can be developed for special services, special customers, and special needs.
Parting Note 2: Team Home Page
One of the options when sharing a page is making it public, which is an option available to make the page search-engine indexed and easy to collect on the Team Home Page. This application, too, is too much to pack into one post, so we’ll save it for another post. For now, here’s a sample Team Home Page with a variety of forms making it simple for customers and partners to access common forms. The Team Home Page also features some showcase samples, which helps new clients more easily find the team.
If every client is unique, then provide a unique workflow for every client.
Pages in Summary
Project tools like tasks, comments, notes and custom fields are pieces of the platform that gets projects done. Pages in TeamPlatform allow content to be arranged and shared internally or externally, easily. Check out more by logging in or creating a new account.
